About Haiti Missions
One of the oldest continuously-serving missions in Haiti — founded by missionaries, entrusted to Haitian leaders, and carried forward for more than sixty years.
Our Beginnings
Sixty years in the mountains of northern Haiti.
Haiti Missions, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that impacts the lives of thousands of people in the mountains of northern Haiti. Because each person is unique and has a unique set of needs, we strive to minister to the whole person — the body, the mind, and the spirit.
The mission was founded by the Edward Schoolcraft family in 1959 in La Victoire, and for its first thirty years functioned as a field-based, missionary-driven work. In the late 1980s, Dr. John I. Page was appointed Executive Director and transformed the work into an indigenous, national-driven mission — appointing Pastor Fortune Joseph as its first Haitian leader.
Through changes in leadership over six decades, one thing has never changed: our commitment to share God’s love by feeding the body, the mind, and the spirit of the Haitian people. Today the mission includes nine schools, ten churches, and thirteen preaching stations — ministering to thousands in the La Victoire region.
Our Heritage
A legacy passed down through generations.
- 1959The Edward Schoolcraft family founds Haiti Missions in La Victoire, in the mountains of northern Haiti. For its first thirty years, it is a field-based, missionary-driven work.
- 1980sDr. John I. Page becomes Executive Director and transforms the work into an indigenous, Haitian-led mission. Pastor Fortune Joseph is appointed the first Haitian leader of the National Board.
- 1999Rev. Jonathan Cresse is appointed Executive Director and, working alongside Pastor Fortune, continues the mission’s steady growth.
- 2017Dr. Jonathan Page is appointed Executive Director, with Pastor Alexis Jean-Baptist leading the Haiti National Board.
- 2024Ray Banks Kluttz becomes Executive Director, carrying Haiti Missions into its seventh decade of service.
Our Leadership
Guided by two boards — one in the U.S., one in Haiti.
Our U.S. office in Kansas is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, keeping overhead low so that over 99% of every gift goes directly to the mission in Haiti. Day-to-day ministry is led by the Haiti National Board in La Victoire.
